Turfgrass Maintenance Programs

Tradition claims that the art of greens maintenance may have been passed from one generation to the next by greenskeepers of chiefly Scottish descent. In fact, most of the first greenskeepers in the United States were Scottish. Perhaps the Scots earned this reputation since golf originated in Scotland, where most golf courses were found prior to the twentieth century.
